Bio

Rosie (Toumanian) Nisanyan is an Armenian-American writer, artist, and entrepreneur passionate about storytelling that celebrates her cultural heritage.

Based in Brooklyn, Rosie grew up in a close-knit (i.e., loud!) immigrant household in SoCal. She was immersed in a proud and enthusiastic Armenian community, which profoundly influences her creative work.

Rosie is currently the Arts & Culture Multimedia Correspondent for Armenian Weekly and Hairenik Media, focusing on arts and culture of the Armenian diaspora. Her writing career also includes poetry, community theater reviews, consumer trend reports, and screenwriting -- despite her parents' "encouragement" to become a doctor, lawyer, or engineer.

She is deeply committed to representation on- and off-screen, believing in the power of film and television to not only entertain, but also drive social change.

Rosie also spends her time painting and seeing as much live theater as possible.
